A second Neo-Nazi protestor, part of the Goyim Defense League (GDL) antisemitic hate group that spent several days in Nashville last July, is expected to be returned to Tennessee soon to face a Davidson County Grand Jury indictment charging him with civil rights intimidation and assault.
Louis Edward Dunn, 43, is being held as a fugitive in the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix, Arizona, following his arrest Sunday by the El Mirage, Arizona Police Department. The MNPD’s Specialized Investigations Division (SID) requested that Arizona authorities locate and arrest Dunn due to his indictment last month.
“Nashville and our police department will not let stand hatred that translates into criminal conduct,” Chief John Drake said. “I am grateful to the team at the Specialized Investigations Division for their months of work to hold GDL members accountable.
The charges are the result of an SID investigation into the actions of Dunn and Ryan Scott McCann in the late night hours of July 13, 2024, at a 10th Avenue South parking lot. Detectives became aware of an unreported altercation between Dunn, McCann and a 20-year-old Clarksville man who is of Jewish descent. Follow-up work led to the identification of the 20-year-old, who was standing outside a vehicle in the parking lot that was also occupied by the GDL group. The investigation showed that he was antagonized and taunted by members of GDL. During the altercation, McCann attempted a spinning elbow strike toward the victim’s neck/head. When the 20-year-old tried to get away, Dunn is alleged to have grabbed him and pinned him against a truck while McCann was chasing him. The victim said he was struck in the neck and legs during the altercation with the men.
McCann, 30, was indicted on civil rights intimidation and assault charges earlier this year and was convicted in Criminal Court last month. His sentencing is pending and he remains in jail.
